  1. There are so many fabulous books on the Canada Reads Longlist this year! In addition to these three fine books, I’d like to give another Quebec title in translation a signal boost by mentioning “Autopsy of a Boring Wife” by Marie-Renée Lavoie, translated by Arielle Aaronson. A great read!

  2. Heather O’Neill is one of my favourite authors! I highly recommend her book, The Lonely Hearts Hotel.
I will add the others to my list!

  3. I’m so happy that Jonny Appleseed made the longlist! One of my favourite reads in 2020. Looking forward to reading the others on the list.

  4. You want another book title from the Canada Reads list? Best one I can give you is Trees Make A Forest. I loved that book.

  5. Another Canada Reads contender worth everyone’s time: Butter Honey Pig Bread by Francesca Ekwuyasi. It’s exceptional.

  6. Great to see such a variety represented this year! I thoroughly enjoyed Tilly and the Crazy Eights, and Yiddish for Pirates.

  7. I have checked out the Canada Reads longlist and linked to the book’s webpages. I have Yiddish for Pirates (Gary Barwin) on my list of books to get.

  8. Looking forward to reading Yiddish for Pirates, by Gary Barwin. It was a finalist for the 2016 Scotiabank Giller Prize and the 2016 Governor General’s Literary Award for fiction. I’ve not read Barwin, but these also-rans and the Canada Reads list have peaked my interest.

  9. I love the title “Two trees make a forest ” and I gather this book made the short list. Too bad none of these 3 made the cut, but they do sound interesting.
