East Coast Counting by Dawn Baker is a fun and educational counting book for young readers. Using iconic Atlantic Canadian landmarks, animals, and other objects, children learn about the places and things in this part of Canada, while also practicing their counting skills. The illustrations are bright and cheery, which is a great representation of the overall welcoming feel of Atlantic Canada. There is also an opportunity to practice counting the images on each page, which is perfect for the youngest of learners. Included at the back is a description for each of the places or things mentioned throughout the book, which provides a bit of education and explanation for readers who are unfamiliar with the area.
Whether you live within Atlantic Canada or beyond, this is a wonderful book to practice counting, while capturing some of the highlights of the area.
