a glimpse of water fall: Poems by Jane Tims

Jane Tims is a writer, botanist and artist living in rural NB and author of five books of poetry. ‘a glimpse of water fall’ won Honorable Mention in the Writers’ Federation of New Brunswick’s competition for the Alfred G. Bailey Prize. It is magical! When you read her poems you are invited into peaceful moments of bliss, and her artwork of waterfalls and gargoyles adds a touch of intimacy while leading us into nature’s raw beauty.

Shore song...
the wind runs the lake
is caught and flung backwards
by red pine, sticky fingers
small bugs stride
on the water
trout lilies sleep
and fringed loosestrife
hangs its head...

If you are a lover of waterfalls, a hiker, a fisherperson, or recently retired, this book is for you. You can follow the trail of her artwork waterfalls across New Brunswick. I have never seen several of these waterfalls and I am going to this summer… this book has so inspired me! If you go too, remember to take a pencil, art paper, or camera to capture each breathtaking moment.
