The Most Magnificent Idea by Ashley Spires

The Most Magnificent Idea is an “inspiring companion” to The Most Magnificent Thing by British Columbia’s, Author and Illustrator, Ashley Spires and published by Kids Can Press.

This fun and delightfully illustrated book is about a very creative girl, and her canine assistant, who builds things. Sometimes the girl is so full of ideas that her hands can’t keep up. She is an idea machine. Then one day she woke up feeling different, something was missing, she had no ideas, not one new idea. But they can’t be that hard to find…or are they?

She then goes about finding a way past her creativity block to find a new idea, a MAGNIFICENT IDEA. She tries several things like taking a walk, brainstorming with a friend, and even tries sitting and staring to see if she can find an idea. You’ll have to read the story to see if and how she finds an idea, no spoilers here.

This would be a wonderful addition to any preschool or elementary school’s library or child’s personal library and the perfect inspiring book to read before a day of crafting. The kind of crafting day that you just provide the supplies and see what MAGNIFICENT IDEA happens.

The dedication in this book is “For anyone who has ever stared helplessly at a blank page” and while I was reading this story, I thought of several adult authors I could gift this book to that may need a nudge towards a MAGNIFICENT IDEA.

Ashley Spires is the author and illustrator of many books including the bestselling The Most Magnificent Thing, The Thing Lou Couldn’t Do and the Binky the Space Cat series. She is a drinker of tea, eater of candy and lover of animals. When she is not making books, she enjoys yoga, jogging and fostering orphan kittens for her local shelter. Ashley lives just outside Vancouver, British Columbia, with her dog and far too many felines.
