The Dartmouth Book Exchange is a magical Tardis of a store. It is the wallflower that only the brooding hero sees from across the dancefloor, because he knows that under that nondescript frock is something truly special. And once you come inside, it is a beautiful place full not only of books, but of book lovers, readers and authors. It is a place where people gather, linger, read, and chat about books. It is a welcoming, come as you are, whatever you like to read, we have something for you kind of place. And that’s kind of magical, as all good stories are.
Michelle Helliwell, author of the Enchanted Tales Series and the Scandalous Spinsters Series
Amongst the tens of thousands of books at the DBE, there is a very special section for local authors, both traditionally published and indie authors…Visiting their bookstore is more than supporting a local business; it’s supporting the written culture of Nova Scotia.
Deanna Foster, author of Gothic and Fantasy paranormal novels
The wide selection of new books from local authors, and staff who know the books, is a rare and much appreciated bonus. As an author and a publisher, I love that Dartmouth Book Exchange not just carries local books, but actively promotes them through events, clubs, involvement in local literary groups, and extensive social media.
Tim Covell, author of Ocean’s Lure and operator of Somewhat Grumpy Press.
Dartmouth Book Exchange plays a crucial role in our community, and we appreciate them sooo much!
Barbara A. Miller, author of Zig Zag Zeffy
The Dartmouth Book Exchange is a special place if you’re a reader. It is a special place if you’re a writer. It is, quite simply, a special place.
donalee Moulton, author of Cardinal
It’s a place where dreams can be imagined, not only for readers but also for writers…There, the wonderfully supportive and incredibly enthusiastic staff, embrace authors of all types and genres. No matter if you are represented by a national or regional publisher, or a smaller, independent press, you are always welcome at DBE…There are no greater champions of books — all books — than the folks at DBE. Thank you for all you do!
Vernon Oickle, author of the mysterious “Crow” series and Ghost Stories of Nova Scotia (among others)
DBE has become a key member of the reading and writing community in NS. Not only do they offer a constantly refreshed selection of books, they look for ways to enhance customer experience…Thank you!
Gina N. Brown, author of Sugar Bowl Feud, Pickled In Love
You can’t walk in the door without feeling the love…of people and of books. It’s where you go for that special local author book or to find an old favourite…Thank you Dartmouth Book Exchange for creating a book-lovers’ paradise! Much love, Anne
Anne Louise O’Connell, crime fiction writer and founder of OC Publishing
As an author the support I have received from the staff has been exceptional and the extra touches they provide at launches and book events is second to none. As a patron I know that if they don’t have it they will get it… Finally, if I just need a welcoming spot to while away some hours the couch in their cozy nook is waiting. I have never left Dartmouth Book Exchange without an armful of books and a warm fuzzy feeling.
Lana Shupe, Children’s Author
